Hi
I hope this is the best place to pose my problem, I have been using my Rumba board with no problem using my Macbook to print. I have recently fitted end stops and heated bed, all worked perfectly. Today, I noticed my heated bed thermistor read incorrectly and I tried connecting to no avail, I get error unable to connect to usb port.
I still can connect to Rumba board to upload and modify Marlin. I cannor connect via Pronterface or Repetier. I have tried t with my litttle Ubuntu laptop and my Macbook with same result: no pronterface connection.
In Pronterface, this is what I get:
Connecting...
Could not connect to /dev/tty.usbmodem1a131 at baudrate 115200:
Serial error: could not open port /dev/tty.usbmodem1a131: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/dev/tty.usbmodem1a131'
I changed the jumper to stand alone power because my USB lights are not coming on, I have tried three USB leads. The lights were intermittent when I had the USB connected, I only just noticed that.
SOLUTION!
Checked the USB joints to board with soldering iron and one must have come away. SOLVED!
CONCLUSION
Ramps boards have a weak spot where the USB socket is located, despite my anchring the USB cable, it came loose.
FINAL QUESTION:
Running the board off the 12V power supply: any problems doing it htis way? Seems better than powering it off USB...
