Motors moving back and fourth, just making noise. Help much appreciated (no replies)

Hello,

I've just completed the build (mendel) but when I try moving the axis in pronterface it just makes a noise and jolts exept from when I click 1mm increments in which case it will move 3times in one direction and then back.

I've tried different Pololus, playing around with the trim pot and switching motors but nothing seems to do the trick.
Any Ideas?
