Using another pin in ramps to operate other things? (2 replies)

I want to run a separate piece of electronics from the ramps board. The idea is using a SPDT Relay. This is to control a heated chamber via the ramps. For example if I can send a m81 command at the end of the print it energizes the relay which in turn cuts power to the heater and energizes a sucker fan to evacuate the print chamber.

Now I found there is a M80/M81 command that toggles a pin. My question is does the firmware freak out if I run M80 after a print? Will the pin ground or supply voltage? How much current can it carry? If it does ground will it be able to ground a 12v automotive relay to 12v? Will I blow my arduino using an automotive relay directly? Or do I need to use a low amperage/voltage relay that handles the larger relay?

Any help on this front would be appreciated. At this point I have some parts on order that will give me my heated chamber, however I would love to have the arduino control the power down of the chamber. This way It will automatically evacuate the heat and give me some peace of mind. I am working on some thermal fuses to keep things safe as well.

Thank you for the input.
