Extruder reading 190 degrees and not connected (1 reply)

I have posted this on another (general) forum, but I feel I should give it a try here. I melted my extruder by plugging it in to the fan wire. Of course there was no regulation on the temp and the extruder melted. I bought and replaced the extruder and the thermister. Now, the display and Repetier are returning a temperature of 190 degrees and there is no heat on the extruder and the thermister is not even plugged in. Plugging in the thermister returns the same results. I can plug the hot end thermister (T0) in to the bed thermister (T1) and I get the proper reading on the display and in Repetier. If i take the assigned temperature above the 190 degree mark (say 195) the hot end will heat up. I am using the same thermister that I have always used, only a new one. Everything else is working fine. I have even put in another Ramps 1.4 card and the results are the same as above. So, it is probably not the Ramps card. I have 3 thermisters of the same type and all 3 produce the same results. I am stuck. Should I try to reprogram the arduino? Should I try to use pin 14 and 15 instead of 13 and 14 for the thermisters. Of course, I would have to change that in the firmware. (never have messed with that, scary). I am 64 years young and do not know a lot about much of this stuff, so I really need you help>
