Smart controller... what should i see ? (no replies)

I have connected a reprapdiscount smart controller to my ramps.
I put type 2 in my repeater code
I power up the ramps and arduino and a blue backlight comes up
Nothing more
I connect to repetier host
nothing happens
I start a dry run of a sliced object, nothing on the screen, however: when I push the stop button, the printer halts.

I did expect a bit more on my screen.
Did I blow it when I first changed ext1 and ext2 by mistake ?
