I have two printers. One, an older reprap prusa, has just gotten better and better over the last year or so. It had a Rambo 1.1 board. I built the second machine and used Rambo again, this time 1.2. I was getting terrible prints on printer #2 so I have been blaming the design (my own) and tweaking everthing I could. While printing parts for printer #2 on printer #1, I had a problem with the x11 connector and I failed at fixing it, so I put another Rambo I had (1.2) on it and guess what.....it now prints exactly like the printer #2....terrible. What the heck is the deal. Is there something about the Rambo 1.2 that I am not getting? I had a printer that was printing perfectly with a Rambo 1.1 and now I have two printers printing terribly both with Rambo 1.2. I really don't get it.
Anyone ever here of anything like this.
One of the things that is interesting about the bad prints I am getting is that they are exactly the same each time in there "badness" if that's a word. Look at the comparison of two parts I printed on printer #2 and you will see that the pattern of "badness" is identical when you place the two parts back to back. And I am dead sure there is NO Z WABBLE in these machines. Everything is true.
I've attached to photos. Picture "Rambo 1.1.jpg" shows how printer #1 was printing the same object with the 1.1 rambo. I was very happy with this. Picture "Rambo 1.2.jpg" shows how printer #2 printed the same object twice. Notice that the imperfections are symmetrical between the two prints. Just looking one of them, it looks random, but put two prints from the same machine together and it no longer looks random.
Now printer #1 has a Rambo 1.2 on it. and it prints as bad as printer #2. In all cases the same gcode was used. Is that the problem? Do I need to tweak something when changing out the Rambo version?
