Hello, a few days ago I had assembled a 3d printer using Ramp 1.4 and Arduino Mega 2560. After installing Marlin firmware, I had opened pronterface and tried to move X,Y or Z axis but it make noise and doesn't move. I had not install heated bed yet but hotend is working fine. When I click X,Y or Z homing it gives an [ERROR] Error printer halted. kill() called!. All the endstop is opened but not triggered. Copy of the firmware is also attached. I hope if anyone can help me out. Thank you

X Motor Malfunction, Please Help (1 reply)
Fair warning: this is my first 3D printer. I don’t know a ton about the stuff involved, I have done some looking on the interwebs to attempt to resolve the problem on my own, but to no avail.
I’ve recently assembled my OneUp printer, which I’ve had partially assembled in my attic for years. Finally decided to finish. Finished that and then got on to configuring the Repetier software and testing it. Everything seems fine except that now my X motor doesn’t work. That is, the motor is fine (because it works if I connect to the Y or Z plug on my RAMPS board). When attempting to use manual control to move it, it will sometimes sort of... jitter. Don’t know how else to say it. It like goes a little bit and goes right back immediately. I mean, a very little bit. Like a few degrees of the motor. The motor does continue to receive power fine, which I can tell merely because I can’t manually move the X car without cutting the power to the motor. It works fine if I connect it to the Y or Z motor plugs on my board. I don’t know what else to do at this point to diagnose the issue. I thought that maybe it could be a firmware issue, but I have no idea where to get different firmware to use or if that would actually fix it. I’m not sure what to do to determine if it’s a board issue or something, I do have all the appropriate tools to diagnose the issue and make repairs if I need to, I’m just not sure where to start at this point.
I can give more information if needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
For anyone unfamiliar, the OneUp was originally designed and sold by Q3D, who is now gone and all but erased from the internet. The manuals can be found here though: [archive.org]

Strange problem with Z axis (5 replies)
Finished replacing the mainboard of my Malyan M150 with a RAMPS 1.4 after the former burnt out, followed the guides etc. Everything seems to be working ok, with all axis' homing properly like they did originally by hitting the min stops and backing off. However, when attempting to print, the Z axis motors move the extruder downwards for each layer instead of upwards. Really scratching my head on what is causing this, can anyone help please?

Sdramps (1 reply)
Is there anyway to print directly from a Sdramps? I prefer to print untethered from a PC. I can see and select a file on the card when I'm in Repetier host but if I disconnect the PC it kills the print. I was hoping I could turn on the printer and have it load the file and start the print. I would only have one file on the SD card. I usually use a smart controller but have been having EMI problems since relocating all of my electronics to the base of the printer.

Hello, I recently discovered this wonderful little SD card.
Discovered them from Chris Riley through this vid: WiFi SD Card
I can save my gcode files straight to the SD card through Wifi, BUT the Marlin firmware (1.1.9) wont read the card.
(The card powers up, I can find and save files to the card so, "its working")
Marlin detects that its inserted, but when I go to load the code from from the menu, it says "No SD card"
I made the changes listed here: Marlin Firmware Patch
But that didn't help.
Any suggestions?

RAMPS 24v (1 reply)
Hi,
I am seeking advice for a 24v setup. I want to use the 24v because of the 300x300 printbed I plan.
An external MOFSET for the heated bed would be absolutely fine if not even preffered.
I plan an i3 style printer. Not sure yet if one or two z steppers.
I want to be able to run Marlin but also wnat to try Klipper.
I have an Arduino Mega 2560 lying arround. I checked some ebay kits, but they all come with an Arduino.
It doesn't need to be a RAMPS board. Just thought it would save some budget as I can use the MEGA.
Do I actually need to have other special components if going for 24v? Like the hotend or stepper drivers?
Thanks a lot in advance for your support.

Problems with EEB configuration after adding Servo (1 reply)
When I added a servo to my EEB configuration, the servo goes crazy when the layer fans come on.
Modded A8 with RAMPS 1.4 and Marlin, with the following fan/servo pins configured:
FAN_PIN 5
E0_AUTO_FAN_PIN 4
E1_AUTO_FAN_PIN 4
SERVO0_PIN 11
I made a dual extruder setup, changed Marlin to EEB and used a fan extender board in the servo header to run the hotend and layer fans. I added a servo for the Z-probe (had to shift the extender board by 2 pins so it uses D4,D5 but that worked fine) and the servo deploys and retracts perfectly.
Problem comes when I hit layer 4 and the fan comes on... the servo goes mental and after a few seconds the computer loses comms with the printer. It then appears on another ttyACMx port.
I tried the following without success:
1. Moving the servo from D11 to D6 and changing the pin assignment in pins_RAMPS.h
2. Removing the Vcc/5v jumper and powering the servo connector directly from 5v (vie the remaining GND/5v pins in the servo header block)
3. Replacing the USB cable
Now I'm wondering whether Marling uses a different PWM mode for servos and for fans, and if so whether there's a workaround.
Also somewhat confused as to why the USB port would be affect, and why it then directly reappears as a new com port.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil

MKS_GEN_L board (1 reply)
I have Ender 3 and wanted to install a better motherboard with bootloader and more memory .I bought MB and it came with Artillery 3D firmware flashed on the board . I installed the drivers 2208 and set Vref. When I tried to flash compiled version of Malin 1.1.9 board did not recognize any of my COM ports. The Tools COM ports in Marlin is grayed out. So far I belong to several different facebook forums I could not get no satisfactory answers.Maybe someone here can give me good advice .

trouble with extruder stepper motor (1 reply)
my setup:
mega2560 board (x2)
Ramps 1.4 (x2)
A4988 stepper drivers (2 full sets + spares)
Geared extruder with large gear removed for troubleshooting.
Z stepper motors disconnected from threaded rod for trouble shooting.
I use an LED stepper substitute driver tester from [reprap.org]
I have 4 built on pref board.
I also use a RepRap Easy Driver test board [reprap.org]
all stepper motors have been tested for functionally and all driver boards have been adjusted and tested using above equipment and a spare stepper motor.
I use Repetier on a PC in Manual control mode to control actions.
The problem:
All axis steppers function well.
My extruder runs fine in the feed direction but makes grinding noises and does not move in the retract direction.
Trouble shooting:
I have tested with 2 different mega2560 & Ramps hardware setups and both Marlin 1.1.9 and 1.1.4 with same results.
I have plugged in a different stepper motor, swapped one z axis stepper and extruder stepper,
problem remains with extruder driver.
Changed out A4988 and problem still there.
Just to avoid the "standard query" the system was fully powered down and disconnected from PC before any changes where made.
Logic says the problem must be in the Arduino or its software, the Ramps board, the Stepper drivers, wiring or the stepper motors.
I am at a loss as to why this is happening as I have changed everything.
I am wondering if there is some setting for the extruder that I have wrong.
As the configuration.h edits have been ported from 1.1.4 to 1.1.9 and 1.1.4 had worked previously I don't think that should be the case
any Ideas???

Ramps mit PT1000 (1 reply)
Hallo Leute,
Franz

There was a bit of a user base on reprapwilson forum on discourse, but sadly its vanished and no followup info there.
I have one and am having an intermittent issue and hoping to network with some other PICA owners.

NeoPixel/WS2812B on Trigorilla (RAMPS 1.4) (1 reply)
Hi guys,
I would like to add an RGB strip to my printer that can be controlled via Marlin. There's already a lot to find, but mostly for regular RGB strips, which use 3 pins on the board and have to be equipped with transistors.
Now since Marlin has support for NeoPixel/WS2812B LEDs, that would simplify the whole thing. Power the strip externally with 5V and add only one wire for control on board, as far as I understand it. Has anyone had any experience with the Trigorilla board? And if yes, which pin would be suitable?
Best regards,
David

[TMC2130][PSU on/off] Request for a bit of hacking (1 reply)
Hello
I am trying to make these drivers to work, but I have my PSU by default, I have just arise an Issue in github\MARLIN so that the M122 command does not work if the psu is off (I have the protectors on so no problem with EM issues)
I have 2 psu on my printer, one small that turns on with the printer and feeds the RAMPS and arduino ,and other 12V PSU which turns on when MARLIN sends M80 GCODE.
The question is :
HAs someone come up with an idea to deal with these drivers without the 12v psu on...a jumper, a diode, more cabling?
I hope you understand what I am requesting!!
Let me know if you need more information.
Thank you all.
