hello

i connect lcd 2004 red color with ramps 1.6 but not light
when I reverse cables 1 in 2 and 2 in 1 its light but no data appear on it

I use marlin 1.9 and define it as discount smart controller

what is the problem

how can I use pins D0 and D1 (3 replies)

I would like to use the AUX-1 connector on a RAMPS1.4 to power a device for which I will need two logic level outputs and one logic input. D57 on this connector works as expected with M42 P57 S255 setting the output high and M42 P57 S0 clearing this pin - D58 also works as expected but D0 and D1 both seem to be stuck on outputs at 5V.

Firmware is Repetier 0.92.9. Any thoughts on how to use these pins? If either can be set as an input that would also be good

Ramps 1.4 + RepRapDiscount Smart Controller (20x4) - SD Card issue (3 replies)

I'm having a rough time with getting my machine to read from an SD card.

It's a Ramps 1.4 shield on an Elegoo MEGA 2560 R3 board, using a RepRapDiscount Smart Controller LCD/SD Combo (model 2004a).

I've got the display to work, I can navigate fine, everything was going smoothly until I tried my SD card slot. I'd enabled ' #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER ' and ' #define SDSUPPORT', as well as '#define SDCARD_CONNECTION LCD'.

The LCD shows "Media Inserted" when I put the card in, and "Media removed" when I take it out. But when I'm in the menu, it shows "No Media". I've tried four different SD cards, all formatted both FAT and FAT32 with two gcode files in the base directory. Same deal.

I tried '#define SPI_SPEED SPI_HALF_SPEED', as well as quarter, and 1/8th speeds. I also tried multiple IDC cables, reseated the controller board, even ordered another LCD from another seller. Same issue persists.

What else could I try?

I need to wire three wires from an extantion board to it, SDA, SCL and a GND.

On Ramps 1.4 board easy to find.

I've read in the internet, that i can use AUX 1, D0 and D1, but i'm not sure.

Thanks for a helffull advice.

Heated bed on Mega2560 & RAMPS 1.4 showing 358° C?:S (2 replies)

So I have this printer for awhile now (from Kickstarter) and one of the component just quit and I don't know where to start to diagnosis the problem. It's a Rigidbot Big that is running a board based on Arduino Mega2560 & RAMPS 1.4. Not sure what the problem is (short circuit?) but Cura is reading a very high number whether the heated bed wires are plugged in or not at 358° degrees C.

- I have tried replacing the wires that connect from the board to the heated bed.
- Also did a continuity test but I don't know what I am looking for. Pin 2 seems to connect to,4,6,8,10,9 and shows a reading. When I connect pin 2 to 1,3,5,7, the red led light up on the board but no reading so I don't know what all these mean...
- I tried using Pronterface but it also show really high setting.

Figuring out Marlin to work (3 replies)

Hi Guys!

I'm new to the 3D printing world, and trying to get make a printer of my own :-)
So, I purchased all necessary electronics and mechanical parts, and now am trying to figure out the software.
To do so, I uploaded the Marlin(1.1.9.1) firmware onto my RAMPS 1.4 board.

For testing the software basics before getting the components into the structure, I am testing with the following components.
Arduino Mega
Marlin (1.1.9.1) //without any modification
RAMPS 1.4
Nemo 17 4.2 Kg motors
Pronterface

So after loading the firmware and connecting to Proterface,i try to place Y to 10 places from now(G1 Y10 F1200).
But there is no actions going on with the motors and the printer shows this up in the Arduino terminal : [attachment 116642 Pronterface.png]

Connecting...
start
Printer is now online.

RAMPS 1.4 with external MOSFET (no replies)

Hi all,

I recently melt a ramps 1.4 build in mosfet by trying to heat a Mk2B heatbed to 110 degrees, so I decided to get an external mosfet.

I'm kind of new to 3d printing but I watched a lot of youtube videos showing how to set this up.

Now, with the external mosfet I burned out the wire that comes from D8 to the mosfet Control in.

Everything works just fine without the external mosfet, but I don't want to burn anything else.

I don't know what I'm missing, if anyone can help I would be grateful.

Hello there,

As i read ramps 1.4 is running 12V ( so power supply should be 12V or 12V) and ia it ok to run ramps 1.4 on
360W 24V.

LAST question:

I used ender 3 heared bed for my custom 3d peinter and its 24V. Whats the risk if i run it on 12V

Ramps 1.4 with TMC2209 Stallguard? (2 replies)

Hi, I'm having some issues finding the correct information on the web concerning the combination of Ramps 1.4 and TMC2209 stepper drivers.

These drivers are supposed to have UART and also offer Stallguard4, now I want to do this sensorless homing because this machine I've built is simply designed for it.

But I haven't been able to find anyone referencing how this is to be done. I did work with TMC2209 drivers before on an SKR 1.4 board and it works wonderfully, but for the Ramps 1.4 I simply have no idea where to start. Finding no others using this combination but only two other people on the Marlin Github I started to doubt if this is even possible, but apparently they solved the issues (just didn't share the howto) and it should be possible.

Well, if anyone could point me in the correct direction that would be great. I know the diag pin is used to communicate a stall-detection to the endstop pin, but have no clue how to wire this up.

Second, I also have used TMC2208's on ramps and had to solder a special cable going to the Rx and Tx inputs with one needing a resistor in between. Used Dust mentioned somewhere that this in fact isn't even needed and that Rx and Tx can be done through a single wire. I just couldn't find it back and have no clue how to set this up as well.

The drivers I'm using are the v1.2 TMC2209 drivers by BigTreeTech. The Ramps board just being a simple generic Ramps with a real Mega underneath. I'm using an LCD screen so using SPI is out of the question, however since TMC2209 uses UART I don't see any problems there.

Hi,

I have RAMPS V1.4 hooked up to an Arduino Mega (that was an anet A8), I've some issues with y axis of my printer (like in this video), and I tried to resolve that changing the current in the axis driver (DRV8825). Then I tried to send G28 to homing and this error was showed:

Ramps change & D8 pin not working, maybe Arduino mega broken? (1 reply)

I had a ramps 1.3. (Marlin 2.0, Prusa i3 clone).
D10 was faulty so instead of using D10 & D8 i changed in pin_RAMPS.h in D9 and D8.
Extruder and bed worked just fine.
Some days ago I bought a Full Graphic Smart Controller (to use SD and not be in connection with the computer).
The SD didn't work.
So after several attempts I installed a new ramps 1.4.
SD is now working, reading gcodes in it.
Extruder mounted on D10 still not working. So I realized that the issue was not on the RAMPS but I think it's the Mega board.
Switched back to D9 and working.
The problem now is that D8 (the bed) is not working (while instead it was in RAMPS1.3.
The D9 (extruder) has 12V and the red led on the ramps is on.
D8 no voltage and led off.
If I put the bed on D9 (just to test), it heats and works.

SO:

1) can the D8 pin on the Mega board be gone?
2) is there any software that quickly run a diagnostics and says which (and if) pin is gone?
3) any suggestion to fix (D10 as mentioned was not working) or shall I buy a new mega?

huge noise Only when homing Z... (4 replies)

Prusa i3 clone, ramps 1.4, Marlin 2.0

Recently I am experience an issue only when homing Z.
When I press home Z, it moves a little (variable, but not more than 2-3mm) than it stucks and returns a big noise.
To get rid I have to disconnect and reconnect the printer.
The strange thing is that if I move with Pronterface the Z axis (even 10mm) it NEVER gives this issue.
Only when homing.
Here is a video of the issue: VimeoVideoLink
Any idea?
Thanks a lot.

hello guys I am working on a storage system using ramps 1.4 so far everything going well

but now I want to add RFID to the project
since RFID RC522 require SCK, MISO, and MOSI and they are already there in ramps 1.4
but now my problem is 3.3v output, SDA, and the RST I don't know where should I put them, and especially for the 3.3 v is there any way to connect it without any circuit adjusting

Alternative way for configuration of TMC2130 (no replies)

Hello all,

I have a Chinese version TMC2130 v1.1. It works in SPI mode without any hardware action. I can read data using M122 and update them. But I have problems with Stall Detection. So, I thought that I have to solder CFG4 to GND and CFG5 to VCC but while I was trying to solder those tiny pins, I screwed up. I think soldering iron is too hot for these soldering flanges or I am not good enough.

Is there any other way that does not need any soldering for TMC2130 Stall detection configuration?

Difference between Trinamic TMC2130 V1.0 and TMC2130 V1.1? (no replies)

I'm sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before, but I can't find it. What is the difference between the TMC2130 V1.0 and the TMC2130 V1.1? Is it just the fact that one of them has a jumper soldered in from factory whereas the other one doesn't? If so then they'd practically be identical, no?
