I've built a machine which uses 4 motors in the z-axis (picture attached). All the units have been tested individually using the A4988, which is slightly under powered.
I've ordered 9 of the TB6600 stepper drivers, which are inexpensive and look to be easy to wire and have a large heat sink built into them.
In the TB6600 data sheet, it rates the logic signal current as being 8 - 15mA maximum.
Can the RAMPS power 4 of these at once? That would be 32 - 60mA.
I notice the A4988 only requires 20 micro amps, 0.02mA.
I suspect it's a No-Go.
Is it possible to put some kind of an amplifier between the RAMPS board and the steppers?
It would be nice to have a way to run any machine of any size with a RAMPS.
Thank you very much, and I hope this topic hasn't been covered. I didn't see it in a quick search.
