nOOb struggling to get RAMPS1,4 to work (4 replies)

Hi all,

Please be gentle, the electronics and software are my weak spot, having a problem and just wandering if i'm missing something glaringly obvious.

built a MM1.5, she is a thing of beauty, all has gone well up to this point.

running RAMPS 1.4 on a Arduino 2560 mega

then followed intructions from engineglue on youtube, i.e.

plug in usb to laptop running windows8

(slow flashing red LED on RAMPS)

load Adruino 1.0.5 software

load drivers (check COM3)

open sprinter in arduino go to h:

check "board 33" "Baud rate 25000"

all good

upload to RAMPS (rapid red LED flash)

"done upload"

open Pronterface

set baudrate to 25000, com to COM3

click "connect"

i get "connecting..."

and then just hangs there.

I also, at no stage get a green LED.

am i missing something obvious?

both 12v rails on the RAMPS are good, nothing has popped or burned, i just get nothing.
